Returned yesterday from DNR work in a number of counties, including: Otsego, Cheboygan, Leelanau, Oscoda, Crawford, Iosco, Arenac, and Kalamazoozoozoo. Officers: Nick “Streak”Torsky, Mike “The Force” Borkovich, Bobbi “Blaster” Lively, John “Hulk” Huspen, Becky “Sunshine” Hopkins, and Paul “Icewalker” Higashi. Lots of interesting experiences, which I will relate in coming days. While working with listed officers, had occasion to also join forces with COsMark DePew, Nick Atkin, and Tami Pullen.

While the DNR has confirmed a cougar in Chippewa County in the U.P. I had occasion to look at the photo of an alleged cougar in Iosco County, but as far as I know, cougars do not have tufted, pointed ears, n’est pas?

Meanwhile, word from the U.P. of another wolf shooting in Iron County, but as in 2005,  Officers Dave Painter and Jason Wicklund stepped up and made an arrest and got a confession. Sentencing, etc will come later. There’s a photo of the animal in this blog. Also, though I have it secondhand, my daughter got to meet and high-five the gorilla pictured below. When I learn more, I’ll share it.

These are not easy things to look at, but it behooves us to understand that ignorance and selfishness leads people to commit stupid acts against magnificent creatures.
